Nature meets Music – Mar’23

Nature meets Music – Mar’23

We’re going to take a bit of a break from the nature posts. If you’ve been walking along with me on this blogging journey, you would know by now that I am fairly crazy about nature. But, it’s not the only thing I’m crazy about. There’s another thing that has been alive in my life for as long as I can remember. And that thing is music!

In fact, if I was not doing what I am doing at the moment, the obvious second option for me would be to become a musician. I love to sing, I have a good sense of pitch and beat, and I dabble in playing the harmonium and the guitar. It would not be a stretch to say that I come from a very musically-minded family, which is all because of my late father. He was a music-lover and he insisted that I be enrolled in Indian classical music lessons as a child. There were always instruments at our house while growing up.

We’ve seen ups and downs, but the thing that kept my family going was a connection to music.

Music Playlists

Nature has continued to inspire generations of artists. It has given words to the poet, tunes to the songstress and hues to the painter. It finds its way into almost every sublime creation. And so it is no surprise that while walking on Naturenika’s path, it did not escape me that so many of our favourite songs are inspired by nature. An idea took hold of me. To collect songs, old and new, that are related to nature. That has given rise to the two playlists that you see below. Happy Listening!

1. Nature Dose Playlist – Hindi Music

This is a tribute to all the music that my parents’ generation grew up with. It is the music of 70s, 80s & 90s. The Bollywood classics featuring Kishor Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, R.D Burman and others. They are melodious Hindi songs featuring nature themes. Look out for mention of your favourite bird, mountain, flower or river!

Listen to it on Spotify.

2. Wild and Free Playlist – English Music

The second one is an English playlist. It features the music of the forest cabin and the music of the mountains. I especially enjoyed creating the album art for this playlist. It is so bright and happy! It gets me excited for life.

Listen to Wild and Free on Spotify.

Coming Soon

Very soon, I will also be creating a few in other languages with the help of my friends. A Kannada one, Marathi, Spanish, Italian and French. In case, you can contribute to one in your language, get in touch in the comments.
